Action

Max is an old man. He is terminally ill and is in a Paris hospital. To his dying travels to his family. His wife Marie welcomes the family in a Paris hotel and they discuss the strange behavior of Max He had already tried to escape from the hospital. The dying man is afraid, but the family does not know what. The patriarch Max has also not the best contact to the remaining family members. Only son Victor finds access to Victor Max sneaks out the father from the hospital. The family finds out and makes sure that Max comes back to the hospital and is guarded in the future. Victor is now seeking to find out the secret behind the fear of his father, and discovers that his father's secret is to look far back into the past of the family and hides a refugee crisis from the time of the Franco dictatorship.

Background

The film had its world premiere at the Berlinale 2002, where he was shown in the Panorama section. In Spain he had its premiere on 28 February 2002 and ran from 1 March 2002 in the Spanish cinema.

Awards

At the Goya Awards 2003, the screenplay was awarded the best screenplay of the year. Geraldine Chaplin received the award for best supporting actress of the year.
