In the Nursery

In the Nursery, short ITN, is a British music and artists project, which was founded in 1981 in Sheffield. In addition to Dead Can Dance is one of the founders of neoclassical economics and the pioneers of Martial Industrial.

History

In the Nursery was Klive and Nigel Humberstone in 1981 by the brothers - first in the form of a classic rock cast - founded, as the third member acted Anthony Bennet, who left in the Nursery in 1985. Hallmark of the formation was from the outset the use of a military drum. Only two years later, the first publications When Cherished Dreams Come True and Witness ( To a Scream ) published, with a sound close to the works of Joy Division.

From the mid-1980s articulated in the Nursery increasingly in the post-industrial environment. The 12 - inch singles Sonority, released in 1984 on the label New European Recordings of Death in June, and Temper 1985 mark this turning point and take the increased use of the military drum, the development of Martial Industrial anticipated. Here, for the first time classically inspired elements emerge (Arm Me Audacity ) clearly.

Appeared in 1986 with the Twins first full-length work, which together combines the previously trodden paths stylistically before 1987, with the album Storm Horse of the complete change to a classic kind of style. Storm Horse goes with his movie musical ambience as a landmark for neo-classical work. With his following albums resulted in the Nursery continues the newly chosen path by the published 1994 album Anatomy of a Poet, on which the writer Colin Wilson recited some of his favorite poems. Many of the compositions are based almost exclusively on library sound samples.

Used for the later albums in the Nursery increasingly ambient elements, without, however, renounce the use of drums altogether. With Les Jumeaux Klive and Nigel Humberstone founded beyond an applied specifically for ambient music side project that produced in the years 1996 and 1997 with Feathercut and cobalt two albums.

In addition, they launched 1996, the so-called Optical Music Series, during which she set to music old silent films with a new soundtrack and this list also live. So far, seven pieces have appeared in this series.
