Incheon United FC

The Incheon United FC is a football franchise from Incheon, South Korea. Currently playing the franchise in the K League Classic, the top division of South Korea.

History

The franchise was founded in late 2003. Incheon was one of the 10 cities where the 2002 World Cup was held, whereby the desire was to have a football franchise in the city. The franchise was founded under the name Incheon FC, ​​but was renamed in December 2003 in Incheon United FC. The first coach of the new association was Werner Lorant.

Stadium

From the first season of 2004 to 2011, the franchise wore out its home games in Incheon Munhak Stadium. The stadium was built for the World Cup 2002. It had a capacity of 50 256 spectators.

2008, work began to build a smaller stadium because the Incheon Munhak Stadium is too big and does not belong to the franchise. The stadium was completed in 2012. It's called Incheon Football Stadium and has a capacity of 20.891 spectators. It was built on the site of the 1934 built Incheon Civil Stadium.
