Independence Stadium (Zambia)

Independence Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Lusaka, capital of Zambia. It is used mostly for football matches, but also for political events. The stadium can hold 30,000 spectators. It was closed due to disrepair in 2004, but shortly thereafter released. In October 2006, repairs were called for, since the stadium was on the verge of the " collapse".

In Lusaka, there is the Sunset Stadium with 20,000 seats. The other stages such as Woodlands Stadium, nationalist stage, Matero Stadium, Edwin Imboela stage Nkoloma stage are more likely to be described as sports fields.

A new stadium with 70,000 seats should be ready for the All- Africa Games in 2011, 2008 is entered as host because of lack of funds back again.
