Indochinese short-tailed shrew

Blarinella griselda is a shrew in the genus of Asiatic short-tailed shrews ( Blarinella ). It occurs in a large part of the People 's Republic of China and northern Vietnam.

Features

With a head-body length of 5.2 to 7.9 centimeters, the type is one of the small to medium-sized shrew species and within the species between the two other types Blarinella wardi and Blarinella quadraticauda. The tail reaches a length of 31-42 mm and the hind foot 8-14 millimeters; as in all species of the tail is thus very short. The type corresponds in appearance Blarinella quadraticauda, but is somewhat smaller. The back and belly coloration is uniformly dark gray to brown, with the belly and tail are lighter. The top of the front and hind feet brownish.

The skull has a maximum length of 19 to 21 millimeters. Like all species of the genus has the kind in the maxilla per half an incisor ( incisor ) and then five unicuspid teeth, a Vorbackenzahn ( premolar ) and three molars ( Molar ). Dissemination

Blarinella griselda comes in a large part of the People's Republic of China in the provinces of Gansu, Hubei and a larger part in the southwest of Yunnan. Way of life

Threat and protection
