The Indonesian national football team ( Indonesian: Tim Nasional Indonesia sepak bola ) represents the Southeast Asian Republic of Indonesia in football. In 1938, the team as the Dutch East Indies for the first and only time at the football World Cup finals. The team is the Football Association of Indonesia ( Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia, PSSI ) was assumed and is one of the stronger teams in Southeast Asia.

Merah Putih home of the ( in German: red and white ), the 1962 completed Gelora Bung Karno Stadium - in the capital Jakarta, with more than 100,000 seats, it is also one of the largest stadiums in the world.

Current national coach of the Indonesians is Alfred Riedl, who has organized the team from 2010 to 2011.

History

In the Football World Cup 1938, the Dutch colony was represented under the name Dutch East Indies, in the first round but could not hold its own against the eventual runners- Hungary, and retired after the 0:6 against this out.

Participation in the World Championships

So far Indonesia has not yet qualify for a world championship itself. In 1938, the Dutch East Indies participated in the World Cup finals, but had to be sure not qualify as qualifying opponents Japan and the USA not competed or retired.
