Inkallaqta

Incallaqta ( Quechua: Inka Llaqta, " Inca City " or " Inca Community") is a large historic site of the Incas in central Bolivia. It is located about 130 kilometers east of Cochabamba at an altitude of 2950 meters in the municipality of Pocona.

The settlement complex Incallaqta (also: Incallacta, Inkallakta or Incallajta ) was built in the 15th century and covers an area of ​​80 hectares. The main building of the plant, Kallanka, measures 25 x 78 m and was when it was built the largest building under one roof in the Western world. The roof structure 24 resting on columns, which had a diameter of two meters, at its foot.

The ruins were uncovered in the first decade of the 21st century under the direction of archaeologist Lawrence S. Coben (University of Pennsylvania).
