Innocencio of Mary Immaculate

Inocencio de la Inmaculada (birth name: Manuel Canoura Arnau; born March 10, 1887 in Cecilia Oro Valley, † October 9, 1934 in Turon ) was a Spanish martyr. He is venerated in the Roman Catholic Church as a saint.

Manuel Canoura Arnau came at the age of 14 years, the seminary of the Passionistenordens and adopted as a religious name Inocencio de la Inmaculada. In 1920 he received the priesthood in Mieres. Inocencio worked primarily as a preacher and teacher in various centers of his order. In September 1934, he was transferred to Mieres. Inocencio was condemned by a revolutionary committee in riots left militias in Asturias in Turon, where he took off children at the request of the Congregation of Christian Schools confession, to death.

He was beatified in 1990 and canonized in 1999 by Pope John Paul II.
