Institut des hautes études cinématographiques

The French film school Institut des Hautes Études cinématographiques ( IDHEC ) was founded in late 1943 by the avant-garde film director Marcel L' Herbier, producer and composer Pierre Gérin Yves Baudrier in Paris. Classes began in January 1944 under the direction of L' Herbier.

In addition to French men and many citizens of other countries were trained. The study consisted of a preparatory year and two years of training in the areas of producing, directing, cinematography, editing, etc. Among the graduates of the IDHEC are such well-known directors such as Alain Resnais, Louis Malle, Jean -Jacques Annaud, Claude Miller, Claude Sautet, Volker Schlöndorff and Theo Angelopoulos ( he left the IDHEC after the first year of study ).

In 1984, the IDHEC in the newly established La fémis on ( École Nationale Supérieure des métiers de l'image et du son ).
