Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba

Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba, Instituto short, is an Argentine sports club in Cordoba. He is best known for its football team, which currently plays in the second Argentine League Nacional B. His nickname is La Gloria (Spanish for fame).

History

The club was founded on August 8, 1918 by railway workers of the Central Argentino, the line between Córdoba and Buenos Aires, as Instituto Ferrocarril Central Córdoba. Six years later, the club adopted its current name. He quickly rose in the first division of Córdoba and won all the championships 1925-1928.

After football in 1931 became a professional sport in Argentina, Instituto sank at first several decades of insignificance. Only in the 1960s, he was able to win three times the provincial championship again. In 1972 the club was promoted to the Argentine second division.

In the 1980s, the club was promoted to the first Argentine League for the first time. There he remained until 1989, when he descended back into the second division. Furthermore, he played between 1999 and 2000 and between 2004 and 2006 in the first division.

The stadium of the club, Estadio Presidente Perón is called by fans also Monumental de Alta Córdoba and is located in the district of Alta Córdoba, north of the center. It has a capacity of 26 535 people, making it the third largest stadium of Córdoba.
