International Alliance of Women

The International Alliance of Women (IAW ) and Alliance Internationale des Femmes (AIF ) is an international feminist organization that was founded in Berlin under the name International Woman Suffrage Alliance ( IWSA ) 1904 formally. 1926, the name was changed to International Alliance of Women. In contemporary German literature the name was translated as World Federation for Women's Suffrage. Co-founder was, inter alia, Carrie Chapman Catt. The International Alliance of Women now represents over 50 organizations worldwide and individual members. The IAW has consultative status with the United Nations and participatory status with the Economic and Social Council of Europe EUR and has permanent representatives in New York City, Vienna, Geneva, Paris, Rome, Nairobi and Strasbourg. The International Alliance of Women is an international non-governmental organization, its president is Joanna Manganara.
