International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education

The International Council of Sport Science and Physical (int. common abbreviations: ICSSPE - International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education; CIEPSS - Conseil International pour l'Education Physique et la Science du Sport ) sees itself as the international umbrella organization of sport science with the objective to disseminate and promote international cooperation in the field of sports science results and findings.

Development

It was founded in 1958 in Paris. Since that time the organization is legally registered with the UNESCO. Well-known athletes and scientists acted in the following years as honorary president, Nobel Peace Prize as Philip Noel -Baker, the former world-class athlete Roger Bannister and the Head of the Federal Institute of Sport Science Prof. Dr. August Kirsch. The original name " International Council of Sport and Physical Education ( ICSPE )" was expanded in 1982 to the term "Sport Science". Currently, 290 organizations and institutions from more than 60 countries are members of the World Council.

Structure

The supreme governing body of the World Council is the bi -annual General Assembly.

The elected by the General Executive Board serves four-year terms. The Board consists of a President, four Vice-Presidents, a Treasurer, the Chairman of the Editorial Board, the Managing Director and his deputy, of 16 elected members and representatives of associations.

The location of the office is in Germany (Fries House II, Hans- Braun-Straße 14053 Berlin).

Fields of work

Basic concern is a future-oriented global coordination of sport, sport science and physical education. The work of the Council takes place in the following areas, each of which is coordinated by a Vice-President:

- Development, coordination and integration of sport science disciplines

- Promotion of innovative and multidisciplinary research in sports science

- Promoting physical activity, physical education and sports and practical use of relevant scientific knowledge.

As part vorolympischer conventions in the respective host country of the Summer Olympics, the World Council of Representatives of Sports Science provides a regular opportunity to present new knowledge of sports science in this context.

International Cooperation

The World Council is constantly advisory body of UNESCO and takes over from there research jobs. Cooperation, there is in addition to the IOC, WHO, the Fédération Internationale de Médecine du Sport ( FIMS ) and SportAccord.
