International Federation of Robotics

Founded International Federation of Robotics (IFR ) in 1987 sees itself as an international association of the robotics industry and robotics research institutes and international umbrella organization for all national robotics associations.

Activities

Purpose of the Association is the development, promotion, networking and representation of robotics industry and research and development in the areas of industrial robotics and service robotics. The IFR is also coordinator of the 1970 -annual International Symposium on Robotics (ISR ), one of the oldest research conferences in the field of robotics.

The IFR Statistical Department publishes annually statistics World Robotics. A detailed statistics about the robot installations, user industries, uses and types of robots in around 50 countries. Accordingly, the entire robotics industry has implemented $ with robot-based systems for factory automation in 2011, 25.5 billion U.S., of which the industrial robot manufacturer, about 8.5 billion U.S. $.

Members

Almost all international industrial robot manufacturers and 14 national robot associations are members of the IFR, including the associations of the largest robot user countries such as RIA (USA), JARA (Japan), DECIMAL (South Korea), ROBOAT (Taiwan), VDMA FA Robotics and Automation ( Germany ) SIRI (Italy ) or AERATP (Spain). A complete listing of all members is available on the IFR website. Seat of this umbrella organization is in Frankfurt am Main.

Organization

The IFR is organized into the following bodies.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting ( " General Assembly" ) is composed of delegates of the national federations robotics, the robot manufacturer Committee ( "Robot Suppliers Committee " ) and the Research Committee ( " Research Committee ").

Board of Directors

The IFR Board consists of a maximum of 15 eligible voters:

  • The nine board members nominated by the national associations representing the regions of North America, Europe, Asia and all other regions,
  • The President,
  • The Vice-President,
  • The two delegates of the robot manufacturer Committee,
  • And the two delegates of the research committee.

Statistical Department

The " Statistical Department ," located at the German Association of Machinery and Equipment ( VDMA) in Frankfurt, is supported by the national robotics associations, the Committee of the robot manufacturer and the Working Group service robots and publishes the annual robot Statistics " World Robotics - Industrial Robots " and " World Robotics - service Robots ".

Committee of the robot manufacturer

The committee of the robot manufacturer ( "Robot Suppliers Committee " ) composed of representatives of industrial and service robotics manufacturers, integrators and suppliers and is headed by a chairman elected by the group. For this committee five other delegates are chosen for the Annual General Meeting, of which, again, two selected for the Board including the Chairman. To support the General Meeting and the " Statistical Department " are here among others Market trends, organization of market statistics, standards and public relations discussed. Meetings will be held during international robotics fairs.

Working Group service robots

The group, founded in 2002 is open to all IFR members from academia and industry who are active in the field of service robotics. The IFR has the concept of service robots defined as follows:. " A service robot is a robot Which Operates semi -or fully autonomously to perform services useful to the well-being of humans and equipment, excluding manufacturing operations" Goal of the group is to support this new field of research and industrial experience through publicity and creating a global service robot statistics. Meetings will be held during the " International Symposium on Robotics " (ISR ).

Research Committee

This committee ( " Research Committee ") consists of delegates from research and development institutions that are active in the field of robotics. The select committee members to the committee chairperson and up to 5 other delegates entitled to vote for the AGM. The committee is responsible for the development of the " International Symposium on Robotics " (ISR ) and meets during this research conference.
