International Students of History Association

The International Students of History Association ( ISHA ) is a student organization dedicated to promoting international exchanges of students of the science of history and related disciplines. It was founded in Budapest in 1990, and to a better understanding and cooperation of students promote across borders. This purpose is served primarily the alignment of international student conferences and workshops on various historical topics. Through joint projects with partner organizations (eg Euroclio ) the members of the Contact to science and professional practice should also be facilitated.

Sections

The ISHA is a network of member groups called sections ready to currently more than twenty European countries. Especially students at universities in Central and Eastern European countries are represented. In German-speaking countries there are sections in Berlin, Heidelberg, Jena, Marburg, Salzburg and Zurich, with numerous contacts to other sites. In addition to the international events, the members of the sections regularly organize excursions and lectures.

Events

The international conferences and seminars of the ISHA are aligned in a loose sequence of the sections, so that each year about four to five events are held in different regions of Europe. A ISHA seminar lasts four to seven days and keeps for between 50 and 100 participants an academic program ready for a historical theme, which is supplemented by cultural and leisure activities. Thus it is envisaged to allow participants to get to know fellow students from different countries and with different backgrounds, and to discuss with them about different aspects of the common field of study. The host city and the host country can be explored through guided tours and excursions.

In addition to international events, the ISHA, in collaboration with its partner organizations the opportunity to participate in joint projects, and provides for advanced students and doctoral student / inside the Möglichkleit to participate in professional scientific conferences on.

Magazine

Every year, the magazine 'Carnival', in the students have the opportunity to present their papers (eg papers, excerpts from theses, essays ) to publish in the English language appears. The magazine is available at many universities and libraries of Europe.
