Intertransverse ligament

As ligament intertransversarium (plural: Ligamenta intertransversaria ) is called in the anatomy of that spine strip which connects the transverse processes of adjacent vertebrae. These bands support the stability of the spine by inhibiting the sideways tilt and twist, but have little functional significance.

Ligaments intertransversaria are not equally trained in humans in all sections of the spine, the cervical spine may be completely absent, and are partially replaced by the Musculi intertransversarii. In animal anatomy ligaments intertransversaria are defined only at the lumbar spine.
