The Ulstein X -Bow is a patented curved design of the Norwegian shipbuilding company Ulstein Group.

Particulars

The Ulstein X -Bow is a bow shape without bulbous bow, the Steven located above the water line tends to the rear. The advantages lie in the form of lower flow resistance and higher speeds in heavy sea conditions. History

The Ulstein Group subsidiary Ulstein Design AS designed the Ulstein X -Bow in the years 2001 to 2004. Ostensible aim of the development was to improve the Seeverhaltens of offshore vehicles in heavy sea conditions. Involved in the design and implementation of the X -Bow were further shipping company Bourbon Offshore Norway and the hydraulic company Odim. According to model experiments, which were carried out in February 2005 at Marintek in Trondheim, began in 2005 with the construction of the first equipped with the new Bug vehicle, the AHTS Bourbon Orca. In December 2005, the hull created in Poland arrived in Norway, on 7 April 2006, the Bourbon Orca was undocked and finally baptized on 24 June 2006.
