Inverted Collar and Tie

Inverted Collar and Tie is a designed by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen in 1994 sculpture. It is in Frankfurt 's Westend district, in the square in front of the high-rise Westend Straße 1 DZ Bank. The artwork was commissioned by the DG Bank-commissioned in 1993. Was produced sculpture in California.

Inverted Collar and Tie represents an oversized shirt collar and tie, standing upside down on a rectangular base. The tie spreads her ends apparently lightly fluttering in the wind up and out. The base is colored dark gray, the tie is light gray with dark gray stripes. The dimensions of the artwork be 11.9 to 8.5 to 3.9 meters, it weighs 7.5 tons. The sculpture is made of polymer concrete, steel and glass fiber reinforced plastic.

The work of art is an ironic allusion to the " collar and tie " bearing office people of the surrounding Frankfurt's financial district, which also work in the office tower of the client.

In 2013, there was a restoration of the outer skin of the sculpture on site.
