Ioannis Theodoropoulos

Ioannis Theodoropoulos (Greek Ιωάννης Θεοδωρόπουλος; unknown *, † unknown) was a Greek athlete who was active in the late 19th century. He came from Evrytania.

Theodoropoulos formed, along with his compatriots Evangelos Damascus and Vasilios Xydas and the two Americans, William Hoyt and Albert Tyler, the only five-strong field of competitors in the pole vault at the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.

After all three Greeks had mastered the initial height of 2.40 m, Theodoropoulos crossed as well as the Damascus launched as third height 2.60 m. At the next height of 2.80 m (at the Hoyt and Tyler the competition shots only ) failed both the Greeks and then shared the third place. Your inferiority towards Americans was clear: Hoyt won with 3.30 m, and Tyler jumped in second place 3.20 m.
