Ion Dissonance

Ion Dissonance is a Metalcore-/Mathcore-Band from Montréal, Québec, Canada.

History

Antoine Lussier and Sebastien Chaput formed the band Ion Dissonance in late summer of 2001. The music of this band should be more complex and more adventurous than what they did the previous two. Shortly after the founding JF Richard joined the band, and this was finally completed by Gabriel McCaughry (vocals) and Sebastien Painchaud ( bass). In this cast the now obsolete demo CD was recorded .357. After the positive reactions to this CD, the band was a contract with record label Willowtip Records ( in Europe: Cacophonous Records) gain. Then there was the first line-up change: Sebastien Painchaud on bass came Miguel Valade. With this lineup the band played as the opening act at performances of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Daughters, Misery Index, The End and The Black Dahlia Murder.

In April 2003, started to record the first LP Breathing is Irrelevant. In June 2003 it was completed and October 2003 was published.

In 2004, they launched a major tour along with Forever is Forgotten along the U.S. west coast. Concerts in Canada were played together with the group The End. After the last performance at the Maryland Death Fest, there was another line-up change on bass: Miguel Valade came Xavier St- Laurent.

After the release of the album Solace Ion Dissonance toured again by Canada and the United States. On 20 June 2006 Gabriel McCaughry announced his departure from the band due to personal and musical differences. In October 2006, the band took with Kevin McCaughey a new singer.

In April 2007, the album Minus the Herd was published.

2010 appeared the latest album Cursed.

Style

The music of Ion Dissonance is often compared to the escape of bands like The Dillinger plan and Meshuggah, and is therefore distinguished by a complex, technical riffing.
