Iota Boötis

ι Bootis ( Iota Bootis, pronounced: Bo - otes, short ι Boo, historic proper name Asellus Secundus, lat second donkey ) is an approximately 95 light-years distant star in the constellation Bootes.

ι Bootis is a further double star ( angular distance 38.6 "), which is to be separated even in binoculars. The main star has an apparent magnitude of 4.75 mag and belongs to the spectral type A9 V is applied, the companion has a brightness of 8.27 likes and belongs to the spectral class A2.

ι Bootis is located - with the close neighboring stars θ and κ Bootis ( Asellus Primus and Asellus Tertius ) on the northern edge of the constellation, near the handle of the Big Dipper.
