The iPhone 3GS is the third smartphone in the iPhone range of Apple. Marketing chief Phil Schiller put it on 8 June 2009, in the context of the WWDC 2009 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco to the public.

The iPhone 3GS is the last iPhone which has a NOR flash. Using the NORs can start the main processor of the iPhone. The modem of the iPhone also draws on the NOR. The iPod touch 3rd generation already used the slightly improved S5L8922 processor which does not require a NOR to start more.

Digital camera

The 3- megapixel camera with camera sensors from OmniVision offers a video recording and video editing function compared to the iPhone 3G. The camera takes a maximum of 30 frames per second. It has an autofocus lens, automatic white balance and auto macro mode for close-ups. In addition, the camera sensors produce a Wavefront Coding technology for sharper images.
