Ippolito Desideri
Ippolito Desideri ( born December 21, 1684 Pistoia, Tuscany, † April 14, 1733 in Rome ) was an Italian Jesuit who served as a missionary in Tibet in the 18th century. In his efforts, the Portuguese -born Catholic Harem Queen of the Indian Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah, Dona Juliana Dias da Costa helped him.
A modern English edition of his book of travels was published in the The Broadway Travellers collection.
