Ippolito Rosellini
Ippolito Rosellini ( born August 13, 1800, Pisa, † June 4, 1843 ) was an Italian Egyptologist, who participated with Jean -François Champollion to an Egyptian expedition and is regarded as the founder of Italian Egyptology.
Rosellini studied under Giuseppe Mezzofanti in Bologna. In 1824 he became professor of Oriental languages at the University of Pisa.
