Iraj Bashiri

Iraj Bashiri ( born July 31, 1940 in Behbahan, Khuzestan, Iran) is a professor of history at the University of Minnesota, USA and one of the leading scientist in the field of Central Asian Studies and Iranian Studies. Fluent in English, Persian, Persian - Tajik and several Turkic languages ​​, Bashiri has been able to read and translate works that would remain the most Russian-speaking scientific community of the Central Asian studies otherwise inaccessible. Bashiris career initially focused on the ancient Persia and then shifted to the Tajik identity and the relations between Tajiks and Uzbeks the Turkic Central Asia.
