Iraj Mirza

Iraj Mirza (* October 1874 in Tabriz, † March 12, 1926 in Tehran, persian ایرج میرزا, DMG Irag Mirza, called Jalal -ol Mamalek ) was a prominent Iranian poet. Life

Iraj Mirza was born in October 1874 in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz. According to his pedigree he is a descendant of Fath Ali Shah Qadscharenkönigs († 1834); his father, Prince Gholam Hossein Mirza, was the son of Malek Iraj Mirza, who in turn was son of the said Qadscharenherrschers. Irajs father Gholam Hossein was the official poet laureate in Mozaffar ad-Din Mirza, Crown Prince and son of Naser ad-Din Shah Qadscharenkönigs.

Mirza was taught by private tutors, where he learned Persian, Arabic and French, and later he attended the Polytechnic Dar -ol Fonun in Tehran. Already at this time he wrote poems, whereupon the court of the crown prince became aware of his talent and gave him the title at the age of 14 os- Sadr So'ara ( " head of the poet "); Moreover, he was well versed in the art of calligraphy. At 16 he married, but lost three years later his wife as well as his father, whose position as poet laureate, he finally took over.

A few years later he left the royal court and worked in the Office of the Governor of East Azerbaijan, Ali Khan Amindouleh. Between 1901 and 1904 he worked at the customs office of the city of Kermanshah in 1905 accompanied Mirza Amindouleh to Tehran, where he was part of the constitutional movement.
