Irene Worth

Irene Worth ( born June 23, 1916 in Omaha, Nebraska, † March 10, 2002, New York City, New York ) was an American actress.

Life and work

Irene Worth studied at the University of California, Los Angeles and worked as a teacher. As Fenella in the play Escape Me Never gave in 1942 on a tour of her stage debut. In the UK, they later began a major stage career. She played both at the Old Vic Theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company, while they attributed guest appearances in the United States. Worth received 1976 Tony Award for Best Actress as a Princess Kosmonopolis in Sweet Bird of Youth and 1991 for Best Supporting Actress in Lost in Yonkers.

In the film, she was only sporadically seen, but their roles were chosen with some care. In 1959 she won a British Academy Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the silent war. In the pirate film pirate of the seven seas, she embodied a few scruples facing Queen Elizabeth I. In 1983 she was nominated for her role in Deathtrap for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.

In the late 1970s Worth returned to the United States back, where he played theater and acted occasionally in films. She also appeared in a number of television productions.
