Irina Stankina
Irina Wassiljewna Stankina (Russian Ирина Васильевна Станкина, born March 25, 1977 in Saransk ) is a Russian athlete. At a height of 1.67 meters to her competition weight is 50 kilograms.
Irina Stankina was the world's best junior race walker 1990s. After a third place at the 1993 European Junior Championship over 5000 meters, it was 1994 and 1996 Junior World Champion and 1995 European Junior Champion.
At the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg Irina Stankina won the 10 km in 42:13 minutes walking with three seconds ahead of the Italian Elisabetta Perrone. At 18 years and 135 days Stankina thus became the youngest world champion in the senior category at all.
Although Irina Stankina afterwards again went good times, they could not repeat her great success as a junior.
