Irina Strakhova

Irina Borisovna Strachowa (Russian Ирина Борисовна Страхова, English transcription Irina Strakhova, . Born March 4, 1959 in Novosibirsk ) is a former Russian race walker, who took for the Soviet Union.

It was not until 1984, she began with the high-performance sports. On September 26, 1986, she presented with 44:38 minutes on a European record over 10 km.

The following year she was second in the race walking World Cup. In the same year stood at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome for the first time the woman walking on the program. The race suffered from the heat and the high humidity. Strachowa went the 10-kilometer route, first gently and lay 5 km still behind the leading group. After 44:12 min Strachowa came but the first across the finish line and won before the Australian Kerry Saxby ( 44:23 ) and the Chinese Yan Hong ( 44:42 ). 1991 Strachowa won the World Cup skiers. At the World Championships in Tokyo, she finished fourth in 43:40 minutes, with 27 seconds but had a big gap to the third-placed Finland's Sari Essayah.

Irina Strachowa is 1,68 m tall and weighed 54 kg to their active time.
