Irish Poker Open

The Irish Poker Open is one of the most prestigious poker tournaments and has claimed the World Series of Poker the longest history.

The tournament was first held in 1981 at Dublin's Eccentric Club by Terry Rogers. It is the biggest tournament in Ireland and part of the inventory of the European poker tournaments. It traditionally takes place every year on Easter weekend.

Since the death of Terry Rogers in 1999, the tournament by Liam Flood is held at the Merrion Casino.

Since 2006, many players participated in the tournament, you had the Merrion Casino in Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel Change.

The Irish Poker Open 2007 had a guaranteed prize pool of € 2 million, which doubled the amount from the previous year. It was attended by 708 players who formed part of a prize pool of 2.4 million euros.

Marty Smyth won the tournament in 2007 and € 650,000 in prize money. In heads-up he could beat the WPT and EPT winner Roland De Wolfe after two hours.

Top 3 (2005)

The tournament took place at the City West Hotel in Dublin instead and had a buy-in of € 2,150.

Top 3 (2006)

The tournament took place at Jurys Hotel Ballsbridge place in Dublin and had a buy-in of € 3,200. It was attended by 339 players and formed a prize pool of € 1,068,000.

Top 3 (2007)

The tournament took place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin and had a buy-in of € 3,500. It was attended by 708 players and formed a prize pool of € 2,336,500.
