Irish showband

Show Band is the name for a music group (band), the (usually mezzo-soprano) almost always consists of at least four to six musicians and one or two singers and is booked for larger events such as town festivals and gala events.

Repertoire

The repertoire is mainly danceable disco fox in the style and the music are usually extremely popular. There are mostly played current hits, oldies, music from the eighties and German Schlager. A show band usually dominates also a choice of standard and Latin dances and is also able to play at gala events or balls.

Basic Instrumentation

A typical cast consists of a singer and four musicians (drums, bass guitar, guitar and keyboard). The singer plays a central role, as she sings a lot of the titles and often will be moderating. Often, individual musicians take the solo singing some song or they have mastered several instruments.
