Isaac Butt

Isaac Butt ( born September 6, 1813 in Glenfin, County Donegal, Ireland, † May 5, 1879 in Dundrum, County Dublin) was an Irish lawyer, economist and politician.

Life

Butt was the founder and leader of numerous political parties and organizations, including the Irish Metropolitan Conservative Society in 1836 and the Home Government Association in 1870. Additionally, he was Chairman of the Home Rule League in 1874.

He is buried in Stranorlar.
