Isaac C. Delaplaine

Isaac Clason Delaplaine ( born October 27, 1817 in New York City; † July 17, 1866 ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1861 and 1863 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Isaac Clason Delaplaine was born about two and a half years after the end of the British - American War in New York City and grew up there. He pursued an academic career. In 1834 he graduated from Columbia College (now Columbia University) in New York City. He studied law. His admission to the bar he received in 1840 and then began to practice in New York City. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1860 he was in the eighth election district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Horace F. Clark on March 4, 1861. He retired after March 3, 1863 from the Congress. On July 17, 1866, he died in New York City and was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in the then still independent city of Brooklyn.
