Isaac Smith (Pennsylvania)

Isaac Smith ( born January 4, 1761 Chester County, Pennsylvania, † April 4, 1834 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1813 and 1815 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Isaac Smith attended the public schools of his home and worked afterwards in Lycoming County in agriculture. Politically, he was a member of the end of the 1790s by Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic-Republican Party. Between 1806 and 1808, he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1812, Smith was the tenth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Aaron Lyle on March 4, 1813. Until March 3, 1815, he was able to complete a term in Congress. This was largely shaped by the events of the British - American War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Smith again in agriculture. He also went into the mill business. He died on April 4, 1834 on his farm near Jersey Shore.
