Aaron Lyle

Aaron Lyle ( born November 17 1759 in Mount Bethel, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, † September 24, 1825 in Cross Creek, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1809 and 1817 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Aaron Lyle attended the common schools and worked in agriculture. He also took part in the War of Independence. Politically, he was a member of the end of the 1790s by Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic-Republican Party. Between 1797 and 1801 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania; 1802 to 1804 he was a member of the State Senate. After that, he was from 1806 to 1806 a member of the District Council of Washington County.

In the congressional elections of 1808 was the tenth choice Lyle District of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William Hoge on March 4, 1809. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1817 four legislative sessions. Since 1813 he represented there the twelfth district of his state.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Aaron Lyle operated again in agriculture. From 1802 to 1822 he was curator of the Jefferson College. He died on September 24, 1825 in Cross Creek.
