Isildurs Bane

Isildur's Bane is a progressive rock band from Sweden, who has an extensive musical development with continuous style and line-up changes behind and today sees itself as an electronic chamber orchestra.

Band History

The early works of the band were initially settled in the wake of the symphonic progressive rock Camel School with smooth transition to jazz rock and combined electric and acoustic elements with Swedish vocals. Four members of the founding formation, from 15 in 1976 - was to 19 -year-old emerged from the band Amsaga. The band name Isildur's Bane is both by Swedish and English by reading type one of the names for the " One Ring " in JRR Tolkien The Lord of the Rings.

The first major break was with the release of Cheval -. Volonte De Rocher in 1989, keyboardist Mats Johansson had accepted the work as a composer, the pieces were now largely instrumental, were recorded in collaboration with an orchestra and took it influences from contemporary classical and Esker Zappa music. On the following albums, this style has been further refined.

The MIND project began to take shape in 1997, which includes the five most recent releases of the band. The acronym stands for Music Investigating New Dimensions, and actually are the albums marked by constant change: while it is 1 is a studio recording of chamber music material with elaborate arrangements at MIND Vol, provides the second album of the series again mostly new material in a live recording with a large symphony orchestra and a running time of 155 minutes. The third part, however, focuses on free improvisation. For MIND Vol 4: Pass has been since the early stages of the band should put first time singing. Artpop songs in the tradition of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush are interspersed with him sounded picturesque interludes.

2005 appeared Mind Vol 5 - The Observatory as a concert DVD which contains a complete presentation of Vol 4, and is without supplemented by seamlessly integrated earlier shots, scenes of everyday life on tour and surrealistic effects to merge art film. Guest vocalist and guitarist Mariette Hansson wrote four singer-songwriter pieces that were arranged orchestral and later released as an EP Songs from the Observatory by Mats Johansson for the intro and as a bonus.

In December 2005, the IB Expo took place for the first time in Halmstad. Renowned musicians like Mick Karn ( bassist with Bill Bruford, Japan, Kate Bush) and Jerry Marotta ( drummer for Peter Gabriel, Ani DiFranco, Paul McCartney, Tony Levin Band) were invited to participate in the development of new material and live in this connection to present.
