Iskut

Iskut is a settlement of the Tahltan in British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Highway 37 at the northern end of Lake Eddontenajon.

Population

Most of the approximately 300 inhabitants belong to the Iskut First Nation. These are part of the Tahltan Nation, form the second branch of this tribe in the territory of the Stikine River around Dease Lake and Telegraph Creek as Tahtlan First Nation. The near Iskut located Eddontenajon settlement was abandoned.

Economy and Transport

The Highway 37 provides access to the Yellowhead Highway (406 km south ) and Highway 97 - the Alaska Highway (315 km north). The Kluachon Centre offers a gas station, a motel, a supermarket and a public telephone.
