İslâm III Giray

Islam III. Giray (* 1604, † 1654) was from 1644 the Khan Krimkhanats.

Life

Islam was born as the son of Khan Giray selamet I. 1604. In 1644, he was named the suzerain of Krimkhanats, Sultan Ibrahim of the Ottoman Empire, the successor of his brother Mehmed. Islam graduated in 1648 directed against Poland - Lithuania alliance with the Ataman of Saporogerkosaken, Bogdan Khmelnytsky, whose force he reinforced by his Crimean Tatar units. He participated in the siege of Zbaraż 1649, at the Battle of Zborów 1649 and at the Battle of Beresteczko 1651.

According to the Alliance of Saporogerkosaken with the Tsardom Russia in the Treaty of Perejaslav 1654, he switched sides and fought on the side of Poland-Lithuania his former allies.

Khan Islam Giray was murdered in 1654. In the office of Krimkhans his brother Mehmed IV Giray followed by in second term.
