Islamic Relief

Islamic Relief Germany (IRD ) is a German non-governmental organization and was founded in 1996 in Cologne. Islamic Relief Germany is a partner of Islamic Relief Worldwide, a network of 13 independent Islamic Relief partner organizations in Europe, Africa, Asia and the USA, which was founded in 1984 in response to the then famine in the Horn of Africa. Thanks to the worldwide network of partners and project offices in more than 40 countries, Islamic Relief reaches with its relief and development projects needy people in Africa, Asia, Middle East and Eastern Europe. Their help is supported by thousands of local volunteers and coordinated by the International Bureau in Birmingham. The head of Islamic Relief Germany in Cologne; Offices in Berlin, Essen and Munich.

Objectives

Islamic Relief Germany is committed to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations to promote sustainable development and is predominantly in the areas of emergency assistance, disaster preparedness, health care, food security, education, orphans and child development, water and sanitation, income support active. Important feature in the work of Islamic Relief Germany is a close cooperation with its Islamic Relief partner organizations both in the local as well as national and international context. By signing the "Code of Conduct " ( International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement ) guarantees " IRD " that all projects be adapted to the social, cultural and economic realities on the ground.

Responsibilities

As a non-governmental organization (NGO) to Islamic Relief Germany committed to helping the poorest of the world, regardless of race, religion or gender. In crisis areas IRD cares '''' among other things, the distribution of food and hygiene parcels, the supply of drinking water, the supply of fuel for pumps and generators, and general reconstruction assistance. Islamic Relief Germany is active in the following sectors: relief and aid projects, water and sanitation projects, health and nutrition projects, income maintenance projects, educational projects and orphan sponsorship. Further support IRD with their seasonal projects during the month of Ramadan and the Islamic feast Kurban victims families by food and meat packages are distributed to them.

Activities

Intercultural Week in Schwerin

As part of the Intercultural Week ( September 27 to October 3 2009) in Schwerin, the nationwide took place under the motto "Mixed With ", Islamic Relief Germany participated in the event, " Your neighbor is a Muslim! Islam in Germany - a challenge? "Instead. The office manager of Islamic Relief Berlin, Ismet Misirlioglu, spoke on the topic of " Islam is, charity " and reported on the long-standing work of Islamic Relief Worldwide in the humanitarian sector.

Muslim chaplaincy phone ( COURAGE )

Since 2009 Islamic Relief Germany is supporting association of Muslim chaplaincy phone ( courage ) in Berlin. COURAGE is the first project, the Islamic Relief Germany has established for the first time in Germany permanently. In this project, Islamic Relief Germany cooperates with Caritas and Diakonia in order to benefit from their experience in telephone counseling area. The cooperation refers primarily to the areas of education, training and supervision.

Conference in cooperation with Deutsche Welthungerhilfe

On 7 and 8 December 2009 in Bonn, the conference "Development cooperation and humanitarian work in the context of Islam " instead. In cooperation with Deutsche Welthungerhilfe Islamic Relief Germany organized a two-day conference.

Gender - week

Islamic Relief Germany participated in technical discussions of gender Week ( March 8 to 12 ), which has organized the Society for Technical Cooperation ( GTZ), in part. Here, IRD participated with a presentation on development cooperation and gender in the Islamic context.

MJD Meeting 2010

From 21 -24. May 2010 met at the holiday center in Bad Orb Muslims 13-30 years at the annual meeting of the Muslim Youth in Germany ( MJD ). Besides the numerous activities on the holiday site lectures, workshops, colorful evenings of art and culture and sports program were offered. Islamic Relief Germany was represented as a sponsor with an information booth and raffled off during the MJD meeting an Umra trip.
