Island castle

The island castle is a variant of Wasserburg. It is characterized by its location on a natural or artificial island. It is a typical lowland castle.

The most famous island castle in Germany is the Pfalz Castle Castle near Kaub. The only Gothic water castle in Europe is Trakai Castle in Lithuania.
