The Isle of Axholme is part of North Lincolnshire in England. It is the only part Linconshires west of the River Trent. It lies between the towns of Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Gainsborough.

The name Isle has the land as it was before the reclamation by Cornelius Vermuylen any place here on a dry survey in the surrounding marshland. The Don, who has since been diverted separated the Isle of Axholme of Yorkshire, the idle of Nottinghamshire and the Trent from the rest of Lincolnshire. Three towns are located on the Isle of Axholme: Epworth, Crowle and Haxey. Other places are Garthorpe, Luddington, Eastoft, Belton, Sandtoft, West Woodside, Wroot and Owston Ferry.

Large areas of the northern part of the Isle of Axholme are flat arable land, cultivated with wheat and sugar beet. The soil is very fertile due to the earlier annual flooding by the Trent and the peat soil, which is due to dense woodland that covered the area. Even today, already two meters can be found under the surface of petrified wood in many areas of the northern island, in the area bog oak ( bog oaks ) is called.
