Isleten

The small town Isleten ( locally called the Isleten ) is part of the municipality building of Uri in Switzerland. The settlement is situated at the entrance to Isental on a delta at Lake of Uri.

Traffic routes

Industrial history

Isleten has long been an important industrial center and is the starting point for Uris industrialization. In the buildings of a paper mill opened in 1853 Alfred Nobel founded in 1873 an explosives factory. There, invented by Nobel dynamite was made especially for the Gotthard railway tunnel. Tourism

Isleten situated on the way of Switzerland, which leads to the Lake of Uri. Thanks to good wind conditions and thermals, it is also a popular spot with surfers.
