Production and representation
2-chloropropane may be obtained by chlorination of propane, wherein, depending on the temperature to a great extent and 1- chloropropane is formed ( see also Markovnikov rule).
Properties
2-chloropropane is a very volatile, colorless liquid with chloroformartigem odor. In contrast to many haloalkanes it has a lower density than water.
