Italian referendums, 2011

On 12 and 13 June 2011 a referendum was held abrogatives in Italy, with four questions were asked. There were 47,118,352 and 3,300,496 Italians living abroad Italians called for a referendum to decide on the following questions:

  • In the third question, the abolition of Legislative Decree No. 99/2009 and No. 31/2010, which provide for the re-entry of Italy into the nuclear energy was put to the vote. On 26 May 2011, however, was adopted by the Berlusconi government an omnibus bill that cancels out the above article for a period of 12 months. After the Government's proposal to abolish the referendum of Court of Cassation (Supreme Court of Cassation ) was rejected on 1 June 2011 and also the appeal to the Constitutional Court endorsed the referendum, this question has been asked yet.
  • In the fourth question concerned the abolition of the provisions of Law No. 51 of 7 April 2010, as amended, following the judgment of the Constitutional Court No. 23/2011, in the lawful prevention of the Prime Minister and the Minister at the show to the detention hearing ', the so-called Lex Berlusconi or legittimo impedimento.

The referendum was then only valid if the necessary quorum was of 50 % plus one vote, ie 25,209,425 votes achieved.

The first question

Proposed by the abolition of Article 23 bis of Law No. 133 /2008 regarding the privatization of public services with economic impact.

The second question

The third question

Repeal the new standards, which permit the production of nuclear energy on the national territory.

Fourth Question

Proposed by the abolition of the provisions of Law No. 51 of 7 April 2010, as amended, following the judgment of the Constitutional Court No. 23/2011, in the area of ​​lawful prevention of the Prime Minister and the Minister at the show for the criminal trial.
