Italian Society for Military History

The Italian Society of Storia Militare ( SISM ​​) ( Italian Society for Military History ) is a scientific association, which was founded by Raimondo Luraghi, its first president. The company was founded in Rome on December 14, 1984 and has set itself the goal to promote the military history studies:

  • Organizing and participating in conferences, seminars and other events of a cultural or scientific nature;
  • The publication (also in or as periodicals) of studies, notes and reference material;
  • The support of scientific research, including in conjunction with institutions, associations and individuals;
  • The allocation of scholarships and geldlicher funding for undergraduate and graduate students;
  • The realization or the patronage of other initiatives of military -historical significance, even on a proposal by outsiders.

Cooperation

The SISM ​​is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Defense ( Ministero della Difesa ) and works with the following institutions:

  • Commissione Italiana di Storia Militare - CISM ( Italian Commission of Military History ), built with ministerialem decree of November 21, 1986;
  • Interuniversity Center for Military History Research ( Centro Studi e Ricerche Storico di Interuniversitario - militarized - CISRSM ), established by decision of the Universities of Turin, Padua and Pisa, April 15, 1986;
  • Association of Friends of the Italian Military Library, founded in Varallo Sesia, on 20 September 2008.

The SISM ​​common in Italy the " Bibliography international d' histoire militaire " (International Bibliography of Military History in French), published by the Comité de bibliography of the Commission International d' histoire militaire ( CIHM ). The SISM ​​has with the CISM collaborated in the organization of the eighteenth and nineteenth International Congress of the Commission Internationale d' Histoire Militaire ( CIHM ), which both have in Turin, held in 1992 and 2013.
