Itatiaiuçu is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, with 9,292 inhabitants ( 2009 estimate ). In a census of 2000, the population was 8,517

Location

It borders Mateus Leme, igarapé, Brumadinho, Rio Manso, Itaguara, Carmo Cajuru and Itaúna. The place is surrounded by the Cordilheira do Espinhaço, on the slopes of the Sierra Itatiaiuçu and has 267 square kilometers. Belo Horizonte is located 70 km to the northeast.

Economy

Wwichtigste economic activity is the reduction of iron. Even the temperate climate fruits and vegetables and beef and milk are produced.
