Itta

Iduberga (also: Ida, Itta; * unknown; † May 8 652 in Nivelles ) is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church.

She was the daughter of the Duke of Aquitaine. Her husband was Pippin the Elder. Even her daughters Gertrude and Begga be venerated as a saint. A son was Grimoald. Idubergas Modoald brother was bishop of Trier.

After the death of her husband 640 they donated the abbey monastery of Nivelles, where she lived as a nun ever since. She let relics and books from Rome and come across the sea. A little later she founded a second monastery in Fosses (now Fosses- la -Ville ), which was exclusively populated by Irish. After her death, her daughter Gertrude of Nivelles was abbess of Nivelles, which gave the monastery of the Holy Foillan.

The feast day of the Holy Iduberga is on May 8.
