Iuliu Winkler

Iuliu Winkler ( born March 14, 1964 in Hunedoara ) is a Romanian politician of Hungarian minority ( UDMR ).

Winkler worked as a graduate engineer in electronics and telecommunication Polytechnic Institute Traian Vuia in Timişoara and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications. Later he worked for the International Republican Institute of the United States in the office Timişoara for the program for citizens' initiative and political initiative. After a training program in entrepreneurship at the Conservatoire des Arts et Metiers Belfort and a post-graduate course in management and marketing in International Economic Relations at the University of Deva, he attended the Summer School and the Assembly of European Regions in Erfurt. and a post-graduate course for regional marketing at the trade center Szombathely in Hungary and completed his studies in finance and insurance at the University of Petrosani and was a graduate of the National Defence Academy in the Department of Defense.

Winkler coordinated the branch of Hunedoara IAMSAT. He was a representative of the Executive and Management Boards of private companies of the circle Hunedoara, Director of Development at the company REMONTIN constructii - Montaj and Vice President of the Interministerial Committee for finance, guarantees and insurance at the Eximbank Romania.

Winkler is a member of the Council of Representatives of the Union of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania and Chairman of the UDMR county organization Hunedoara. He was a member from 1996 to 1999 the council of the district Hunedoara, where he was then sub-prefect. From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies. After that, he was Deputy Minister of Commerce, Trade and Economic Affairs, Secretary of State for Trade, Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, Trade, Tourism and Liberal Professions and Minister for Communications and Information Technology. Since 10 December 2007, he belongs to the European Parliament.

2008 Winkler was awarded the Commander's Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary.
