Ivan Ilić

Ivan Ilić ( Serbian Cyrillic Иван Илић ) ( born August 14, 1978 in Belgrade ) is an American pianist with Yugoslavian immigrant background. Currently Ilić lives in Paris.

Life

He studied at the University of California until the successful conclusion mathematics and music.

After a short study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he completed his further education at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris, which he successfully graduated with a Premier Prix. He then continued his education at the École Normale de Musique in Paris. His teachers in France were, inter alia, François -René Duchâble, Jacques Rouvier and Christian Ivaldi.

In his solo concerts Ilić is focused on the interpretation of French composers, especially the works of Claude Debussy. His published on the French Paraty label in October 2008 recording of Debussy's Préludes 24 were the critics' prize Mezzo Television, the Critic's Choice Award.

The solo repertoire stands at Ilić at the center of his work. The recordings of Ilić include works by JS Bach, Handel, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, and Lucien Durosoir. In his solo presentations are works by contemporary composers, including John Metcalf, Keeril Makan and Dmitri Tymoczko. They are among a growing number of composers who have written new compositions for Ilić.

His next project is an album with recordings of interpretations of Chopin's etudes by Leopold Godowsky.

Ilić has given concerts at Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall, Glenn Gould Studio, and in Ireland's National Concert Hall.
