Iván Knez

Knez Ivan (born 21 July 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina ) is a retired Argentine- Swiss footballer.

Personal

As the son of an Argentine mother and a Croatian father Ivan came with his family as a seven year old to Switzerland to Emmen. With his partner Miriam, and his son Noah Elijah Ivan Kenz now lives again in Emmen. By profession he is a clerk.

Club career

The SC Emmen began his career and he went through the junior teams. In 1994 he moved to FC Luzern, but towards the end of his Lucerne time remained in the wage bill and in a lightning operation, he moved to five years in 1999 in Lucerne to Basel. His move to FC Basel would be worthwhile, since under coach Christian Gross, the FCB opened to new horizons. Knez played in central defense alongside Oliver Kreuzer. In the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2001 the team reached the final but lost to Aston Villa. In the 2001 /02 season Knez won the Swiss Double with FCB.

In February 2002 he signed for the Austrian club SK Rapid Wien and his debut came on 24 February in a 1-0 home win against SV Austria Salzburg. But only a year later he moved back to Switzerland for BSC Young Boys Bern and played in two years. At the end of his football career, he played for FC Augsburg in the 2nd Bundesliga.
