Ivan Padovec

Ivan Padovec ( Johann Padowetz; * July 17, 1800 in Varaždin, † November 4, 1873 ) was a Croatian guitarist and composer.

Life

Padovec lived from 1829 in Vienna. Vienna was, next to Paris, a center of early romantic guitar scene with players like Mauro Giuliani, Diabelli Anton and Wenzel Matiegka and renowned music publishers who issued international Gitarrenlitatur. Hackl counts Padovec " the most important composers of the guitar for the guitar at the end of its heyday in the 19th century. "
